No longer very very good looking paperweights

For a while I had two broken NES systems laying around but today I got around to fixing them. I used two different methods to fix them though. With one, I ordered a new 72 pin connector and replaced the one already in the system. With the other one, I broke the 4th connector on the lockout chip. The only problem I see with the latter system is that games only work if they are at a certain angle within the system, but I think that is due to a less than perfect 72 pin in it. Long story short, they both work great. Now I can get around to playing NES disappointments megahits such as Silver Surfer, Metal Gear, and Links Adventure.

Movie News/Previews: Troll (2009)

So I did a search for “Troll 2009″ recently on Google and noticed that this article is, at the time of my writing this addendum, number two on the search results, right below its IMDb page. This scared the hell out of me mainly because I had no actual information on this page. It was just me assuming the movie will suck based on the precedent the series has left, and don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s going to suck something fierce. Well, I have decided to put actual information about the movie I’ve scrounged up here to appease all the masochists out there who need to know about this movie so very badly. -Greg, March 2, 2008

Most of what I’ve been able to find out about this film comes from the Troll (1986) Wikipedia page, which is where the bulk of my “research” is done (sometimes IMDb too), but here you get my personal touch with it which I’m sure is what keeps you reading.
The remake is apparently being written/directed by it’s original director, John Carl Buechler, who besides having Troll (1986) to his credit has also directed several other horror movies, the most memorable of which being Friday the 13th VII, which I believe I have on VHS somewhere. He has also done the special effects for a number of other horror movies, my favorite of which being the Re-Animator, based on my favorite H.P. Lovecraft stories.
The main characters name is still going to be Harry Potter in the remake (as you should know Troll came out before a certain series of books) which can only lead to problems down the line. Somewhere, some unsuspecting child is going to watch this movie and get scared shitless (and somewhere else I’ll be laughing).
Now as far as casting is concerned I have no idea, because there is so little information about this movie online. I haven’t even found any mention of it on the director’s own site. Now, while I don’t know who’s going to be in it I can almost say for a fact that Julia Louis-Dreyfus won’t be in the movie because she’s a stuck up bitch, and Sonny Bono won’t be in it for obvious reasons.

Video Game Review: The Duel (Genesis)

Box Cover

In 1993 the British game developing company Domark released James Bond: The Duel for the Sega Genesis. The game was released during a unique time period in the James Bond franchise. At the time, the movie series was on a hiatus. License to Kill had been released in 1989 and the next movie Goldeneye was not released until 1995. It’s interesting to note that The Duel’s cover bares Timothy Dalton’s likeness. Dalton had played Bond in The Living Daylights and License to Kill; he was originally slated to appear in the next film but ending up dropping out. So in a strange way, this game is kind of Dalton’s last hurrah in the world of 007.

Movie Review: Godzilla’s Revenge (English Dub)

Godzilla movies aren’t exactly the most well made movies nor are they supposed to be. I happen to love them because they are both exciting to watch and corny at the same time. There are two movies in this series, however, which cause me to wake up in the middle of the night screaming due to their complete and utter awfulness. Those movies would be Godzilla’s Revenge, which this is a review of, and Godzilla vs Megalon, which I will review some other time if I’m feeling particularly masochistic.

Video Game Review: Tale Spin (Genesis)

Title Screen

We thought we’d start off our first game review with a real gem for the Sega Genesis. Based on the 1990 Disney show of the same name, Tale Spin follows the adventures of Baloo (yes, the same bear from The Jungle Book) and his eternal struggle with pirates and snakes. Each level in the game is littered with a slew of deadly baddies, especially snakes. There are many different character models, which are completely disregarded in choice of the snake. But we digress.
