In my last post I talked about the Metal Gear Essentials Collection, a wonderful game set that can help MGS fans pass the time as they wait for the release of Metal Gear Solid 4. This post will discuss another action that fans can take in preparation of MGS4. That action would be pre-ordering the game. If you are looking to get something really special with your copy of MGS4 then I suggest you read on.
Pre-orders for MGS4 have been available for a few weeks now on sites like Amazon.com. I’m sure many fans have already taken the time to pre-order, but if you have yet to and are currently thinking about it I recommend heading over to Gamestop.com. Gamestop is offering pre-orders for a limited edition version of the game.
The limited edition set comes with a bonus Blu-ray discs that contains lots of goodies. Gamestop will also be throwing in an exclusive MGS4 art book with the pre-orders. The cost is 84.99 and after tax and shipping it will probably cost you about $100. That is about $40 more than just buying the game itself, but if you are a hardcore fan then the set is really worth looking into. If you do feel compelled to pick the limited edition, then I suggest pre-ordering it ASAP as I’m sure it’s going to sell out very quickly.
If the limited edition doesn’t really appeal to you then I still suggest you pick up a regular copy of the game. If you currently don’t own a PS3 but are looking to play MGS4 when it comes out, then I suggest picking up the MGS4/PS3 bundle that will be coming out in the near future. The bundle has a 80GB version of the Playstation 3 and a copy of MGS4; it’s priced at $499.99.
Whether it’s pre-ordered, bought in store, or acquired through the bundle, MGS4 really stands as a game worth getting. You owe it to yourself to check out a game that will be the first to really push the PS3 hardware and perhaps even turn the entire gaming world on its head.
