Life Size Hulk Statues To See Combat
July 12, 2008

It appears World War Hulk now has a little more in common with reality, as three life size Hulk statues have been donated to troops overseas.
That’s right, Marvel has donated three life size Hulk statues to Heroes4Heroes, an important organization that provides troops overseas with entertainment such as DVDs and, I’m sure, comic books. The eight foot tall monstrosities are supposed to provide a “smashing good time to American troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan” reports Marvel.com.
What good a Hulk Statue can do in a war zone, I don’t know, but I do know that someone overseas will be entertained when they see the Hulk Statue in their military base. For about five minutes, I guess.
(Edit: All skepticism and snark is pointed, as usual, at Marvel Comics, and not the fine folks at Heroes4Heroes)

Thanks for the post! We know that these statues will bring a smile to faces of our soldiers serving in harms way and that’s all H4H wants to do. We know that any little piece of home can make a big difference if just for a couple of moments. Just think of all the great pictures our troops will take with the Jade Giant!

Thank you for the comment, Chris. I guess I was just worried that Marvel didn’t think this through logistically – I was originally worried the risk wasn’t necessarily worth the reward. Transporting the statues across what is still a very dangerous country was, I’d imagine, no easy feat. I never imagined, when I heard of Heroes4Heroes, that it would be flying Life Size Hulk Statues overseas. I must say, however, I appreciate the work your organization does and offer a sincere thank you.
