DC Has Indeed Stepped Up Their Superhero Movie Production
August 22, 2008

A few weeks back I wrote a post expressing how much I feel DC needs to step up their superhero movie production. At the time I wrote it largely because I was wishing to see instant results. However I have since had time to step back and see the bigger picture and I release now that good things come to those who wait. DC is indeed stepping up their superhero movie production; it will just be a little a while before movie audiences will get the chance to see the fruits of that labor.
In the immediate future fans do have both The Spirit and The Watchmen movies to look forward to. And in the long term there is currently a whopping 10 movies that have been announced as in production by DC. Among those 10 is the next Superman movie entitled Superman: Man of Steel. There is also a Justice League movie which is currently now on hold in favor of doing individual hero movies first.
The remaining 8 movies feature heroes starring in their own full-length motion picture for the first time ever. They are:
The Flash
Green Lantern
Wonder Woman
Plastic Man
Green Arrow
Metal Man
Captain Marvel
Aquaman
As a big fan of the DC universe I find it immensely exciting to see so many great DC characters finally getting the respect they deserve. The production of the movies will help break the long-standing and largely held stigma that only Batman and Superman are worthwhile DC heroes and that everyone else are just B-list characters.
The future looks bright for DC movies and I just couldn’t be any happier.
