Movies You Should Watch: Mutant Chronicles

Let’s face it, not everyone has the time to read a drawn out movie review, especially of a mainstream movie that they already know from other sources whether it’s good or not.  Therefore, I’ve come up with this new post concept, “Movies You Should Watch”, in which I’ll highlight a movie which I feel has fallen under the radar, or deserves more recognition.  The first movie I have chosen is the recently released Mutant Chronicles, so hit the break for my spoiler free rundown of it.

Eddie Murphy Denies Riddler Role, Vies for Egghead

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien actor/comedian Eddie Murphy denied rumors that he may play the Riddler in an upcoming Batman film.  He said that he believes Jim Carrey did a good job as the Riddler in Batman Forever.  When asked which Batman villian he could see himself as Murphy responded with Egghead, a character created for the 1960’s Batman television series played by Vincent Price.  Based on Murphy’s impression I think that’s an awesome idea.

Oh the world that could be.

Con Report: Anime Boston 2009

Anime Boston took place this past weekend from May 22-24th.  At first I wasn’t going to go to Anime Boston this year because last year wasn’t that spectacular but I made a last minute decision to go.  Pictures and such after the break.

Misleading Friday the 13th Part 3 DVD Case

I picked up a copy of the 2000 DVD release of Friday the 13th Part III at Circuit City today and noticed something interesting about the summary written on the back.  It reads:

An idyllic summer turns into a nightmare of unspeakable terror for yet another group of naive counselors….

Did the person who wrote that even watch the movie?  The people in Part III aren’t camp counselors, they’re just a bunch of sexed up youths.  It’s sad that the person who wrote the short blub on the back didn’t even know what the movie was about.  Although they never state what the professions of the characters of this movie are so who knows.  They could be, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion Trailer, Now With Extra Storm

A new trailer for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion has been released from New York Comic-Con 09, and this one acutally shows gameplay.  It really doesn’t look like it’s making many strides from the original game graphically, and the only new character I noticed in the trailer was Hercules.  I’m very interested to see how the Civil War story line is handled, because I imagine changes are going to have to be made to wrap up the story, since it technically never ended and is still going on.  Oh well.

Also, I’ve probably said this before but why the hell is Storm featured so prominently in not only this trailer but for most things Marvel in general?  Who the hell gives a shit about Storm?

Batman: Arkham Asylum Drips Awesome, Dirties Floors

A new trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum was released yesterday, finally giving us all a glimpse at its gameplay and story.  So far this game shows a lot of promise, and hearing Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy return to voice the Joker and Batman respectively is pretty sweet.  This is one game I’m definitely looking forward too.

Video Game Review: Fable 2 (360)

Despite what happened after I played Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon, I thought I’d give the Fable series another go and yet again I’m disappointed.  I could spend a while ranting about why this game did not meet my pretty reasonable expectations, but I’m going to be brief about it.

Steven Seagal to Karate Chop Vampires in 2009

I just found this trailer for a movie I had never heard of until now called Against the Dark starring Steven Seagal.  Apparently the movie is about him leading a team of vampire hunters during a vampire apocalypse.  Being a huge fan of zombie apocalypse movies this appeals to me.  Have there been any vampire apocalypse films in the past or is this the first?  Regardless, I’m sure this movie will suck, but it’ll provide oh so many laughs for  the children me.

Did I Sell My Soul to Doritos for Achievement Points?

Probably.

Video Game Review: Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon (360)

Despite having played and disliked the original Destroy All Humans! I figured that the latest installment may have fixed any problems I had with it.  Well I can safely say after completing the game in its entirety, achievements and all, that this game is just as bad, if not worse, than the others and I completely hate it.
